Maxwell Chambers Suites link bridge wins BCA Design and Engineering Safety Award
24 AugustThe link bridge that connects both Maxwell Chambers and Maxwell Chambers Suites was one of the recipients of the Building and Construction Authority’s (BCA) Design and Engineering Safety Award. Mr Aaron Foong, managing director of KTP Consultants, a member of Surbana Jurong Group was tasked with designing and constructing the 20m-long overhead bridge to both buildings. Maxwell Chambers Suites Officially Opens Today Giving Yet Another Boost to Singapore’s Legal Hub Position
08 AugustSingapore Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam, SC, and Chairman of Maxwell Chambers Mr Philip Jeyaretnam, SC, today officially opened Maxwell Chambers Suites, the new extension of Maxwell Chambers. They were joined by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Finance and Education Indranee Rajah and Senior Minister of State for Law and Health Edwin Tong, as well as ministers and senior officials from 12 countries, and more than 350 guests from the government, judiciary, law firms, dispute resolution institutions, law associations, businesses and academia. Heritage And Photography Groups First To Preview Maxwell Chambers Suites
18 JulySome 90 members of various heritage and photography groups were among the first to receive a preview of newly-restored conserved building, Maxwell Chambers Suites, ahead of its grand opening on 8 August 2019. The preview is part of the Ministry of Law’s effort to work with the heritage and photography communities to share the building’s rich history and heritage with Singaporeans through social media and photography, as Singapore celebrates its Bicentennial Year and 54th National Day. 50 Students From 13 Schools Appointed Singapore Convention Youth Ambassadors
18 JuneSome 50 students from 13 schools will be appointed Singapore Convention Youth Ambassadors to high-level international delegations visiting Singapore in August to witness the signing of the Singapore Convention on Mediation. This was announced on 18 June by the Ministry of Law (MinLaw) at the launch of the Singapore Convention Youth Involvement Programme at Maxwell Chambers. Under this programme, the 17 to 18-year-old students will host guided tours around key places of interest. 26 AprilMaxwell Chambers Suites, the old Traffic Police headquarters along Maxwell Road, will officially open on 8 August as part of the expanded Maxwell Chambers after two years of restoration works. The expansion of the dispute resolution complex commenced in 2017 to meet the growing demand for dispute resolution services in Singapore. INSOL International Establishes First Overseas Office in Singapore
03 AprilINSOL International (INSOL) and the Ministry of Law (MinLaw) today announced that INSOL will locate its Asian hub in Singapore. The move represents the first ever physical expansion of INSOL, headquartered in London, since it was formed in 1982. The establishment of an Asian hub is an initiative identified in the Strategic Plan developed by the TaskForce which was set up by the INSOL Board in 2016. Maxwell Chambers Wins Architectural Heritage Award
17 AprilIn October 2012, Maxwell Chambers was conferred an Architectural Heritage Award from the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) of Singapore for heritage building conservation and restoration. URA noted that the former Customs House building, which was built in the 1930s, had been “impressively refurbished” through an “intriguing fusion of old and new”. The building was gazetted as a conservation building by the URA in 2007, and marked as the 88th historic site in Singapore by the National Heritage Board in 2010....

Maxwell Chambers Lauded As A Hearing Centre
17 AprilIn Global Arbitration Review’s (GAR) Hearing Centres Survey (2016), survey respondents remarked that Maxwell Chambers “stands out for the variety of room sizes, layouts to choose from, good natural lighting, easy availability and user-friendliness,“ and its “24-hour availability and holistic support“. It was also found that Maxwell Chambers is ranked second for most of the key factors respondents look out for in choosing a hearing centre, such as location, IT services, and helpfulness of staff. Additionally, Maxwell Chambers came up in second place for its perceived value of money relative to other centres and hotels. This survey is part of GAR’s Guide to Regional Arbitration 2016....
